Acclaimed artist Michael Craig-Martin has designed a major public artwork at the new state-of-the-art Docklands Light Railway Woolwich Arsenal station extension. Commissioned as part of DLR’s public-art strategy, this is the first time that Michael has worked in ceramic and his first public transport project.
Over the next few years, artworks are being installed across the DLR network and trackside, in adjacent public spaces and in stations and trains. Recent commissions include a permanent artwork by Tania Kovats in the refurbished Shadwell Station; cycle shelters designed by Alison Turnbull at stations across the DLR network, and a number of artworks by Kate Davis at the new station at Langdon Park.
